Unrivalled value for techies and tinkerers

So I'm back in Hong Kong and reading technology articles whilst killing time on the local red minibuses.

I came across the launch of a new mobile phone from Xiaomi.  The release information was for the second iteration of their previous Redmi Note phone.

The Redmi Note 2 has great specifications on paper but I had never tried any of Xiaomi's other offerings so I read many links to glean what I could.  The more I read the more fascinated I became with the phone.

I like good tech and don't mind spending chunks of cash if I feel the product is perfect for me.  But more so I love value and I always enjoy that fuzzy glow of warmth when I feel I have got a bargain.

You can get the specs online so I won't go into them much here but the trinket of information that swayed my decision from reading about it to the decision to buy one was made when I discovered that the phone uses a MediaTex Helio X10 MT6795.  This is the same cpu that is found in the HTC One M9 +.  Which is a flagship phone easily retailing at 3x the cost of the Redmi Note 2.

On scouring Sham Shui Po I found the cheapest deal I could get a few days after launch was $HK 1180 which came with a free installed glass screen protector.  Since I'm from England it works out at around 100 pounds.  This seems amazing value and even under the much suggested Moto G for budget recommendations.

I will continue later...
